Don't Mind the Gap!
Our youngest volunteers, Simar and Nikki, supporting our eldest client, Pearl. A beautiful reminder that care, kindness, and connection can span generations.
At Crossroads Care Kent, we’re proud to support people of all ages—and even prouder when those generations connect through kindness and shared moments.
Nikki and Simar—both secondary school students—are supporting Pearl through our Macmillan Crossroads Volunteer Service. These students, who are both preparing for careers in the medical field, began volunteering after one of their mums (who works in the healthcare sector) told them about our charity. They now visit together one day a week after school, offering companionship, conversation, and meaningful connection.
Pearl has shared that she “looks forward to their visits every week” — each visit is filled with stories, smiles, and the joy of learning about each other’s lives, past and present.
The volunteers say the feeling is mutual: “We have really interesting conversations, and we always look forward to visiting.”
This bond is a reminder that differences do not matter — everyone has something to give, and everyone has something to gain.
If you’re interested in volunteering—no matter your experience—there’s a place for you in our family.

This is some additional paragraph placeholder content. It has been written to fill the available space and show how a longer snippet of text affects the surrounding content. We'll repeat it often to keep the demonstration flowing, so be on the lookout for this exact same string of text.
